I am an antibody engineer with more than 30 years of experience. I am particularly proud of the work I did with colleagues at Roche to develop several antibodies for use in cancer diagnostics, such as the FDA-approved PD-L1 (SP263) assay.
As a consultant, I would like to help solve important and challenging problems to cure or manage disease.

Bio
Joe Couto obtained a BS degree in biochemistry from Iowa State University and a PhD degree in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He did his post-doctoral training at the University of California San Francisco after which he accumulated more than 30 years of experience in biotechnology principally in antibody development and antibody engineering. Before becoming a independent consultant he worked eight years for Roche Molecular Systems as a senior manager in the development and engineering of antibodies for cancer diagnostics. He authored more than 30 publications and patents.
